After you have familiarized yourself with the readings and sources, use your knowledge from class to answer the following questions:
1) Go to the BLS website and find the latest labor market information. Read the unemployment report for May (the associated graphs they refer to can make it easier to understand the numbers, so check those out as well).
2) What is the biggest source of uncertainty in the latest unemployment numbers according to BLS and El-Erian?
3) Read the linked New York Times article (also attached here
). Can you give an example from the past few months where the "yo-yo" effect in percentages can be misleading?4) Based on the latest BLS report, give some more examples of "heterogeneity" in the unemployment rate across the economy.
